THE DRIVER’S EDUCATION OF THE WORKPLACE

If you want teenage drivers to be safe and master a skill that will serve them for life, it only makes sense to enroll them in a driver education course. That’s where they will receive focused attention, realistic simulations, and individualized instruction from experienced professionals who can adequately prepare them for the challenges of operating a motor vehicle.

Doesn’t it also make sense to adequately prepare them for the many challenges they will encounter in the job market and help them avoid catastrophic collisions on their career path? After all, a couple of early job-related mishaps could detour, or even derail, a promising career.

When young workers are not prepared to meet the demands of their employers, things go badly and the job experience often turns sour. If they don’t know any better, young people will blame their employers for the job failure and then carry the same bad habits and naive workplace values into their subsequent jobs. And if they don’t learn what went wrong, success will continue to elude them.

That’s no way to launch a career.

The A Game Teaches, Instills, and Reinforces Fundamental Work Ethic Values

In these turbulent times, young people with a strong work ethic who truly understand what employers want and expect from them are in short supply and high demand. Business owners, leaders, and managers go to great lengths to recruit them, develop them, and keep them on staff.

Work ethic is the key to success in any job and the catalyst to a meaningful and rewarding career.

Unfortunately, work ethic can’t be taught with a simple diagram or a classroom lecture. That’s why The A Game’s fully integrated, turnkey curriculum has been designed to pull students in, immersing them in a compelling dialogue by touching their head, their heart, and their funny bone. The A Game forces young people to think seriously about their first part-time jobs, their skills training, and their future careers. In the process, it instills within them the work ethic that every employer is searching for, giving participants a decided advantage over those who have not been taught to Bring Their A Game to Work.

Who is this course for?

The A Game’s work-readiness course is designed primarily for young people who are a) preparing for their first jobs, b) already working part-time/seasonal jobs, or c) contemplating or pursuing career choices and career paths. Because it was designed by leading educators and corporate trainers, the curriculum is flexible and can be modified to reach a variety of audiences ranging from high school students in career and tech ed programs and college students in trade and technical schools to at-risk youth enrolled in workforce center programs and employees completing on-the-job training programs. It’s ideal for ages 14-19, but even those in their early 20’s are giving The A Game course great reviews!

What does the course curriculum consist of?

The foundation of The A Game’s curriculum is our coach’s guide. With nearly one hundred interactive activities that teach and reinforce the seven key values of The A Game, the coach’s guide was developed to serve as the instructor’s handbook for the Bring Your A Game to Work book for students, and is the work of 18 leading experts in the school-to-work transition space, including high school teachers, college and university instructors, and corporate trainers.

The A Game curriculum also features a 34-minute sketch comedy DVD and a fully integrated PowerPoint presentation. These resources keep attention spans from waning and provide clear illustration for developing work ethic in all aspects of life.

What’s the ideal length of the Bring Your A Game to Work course?

Simply put, there is no ideal time. Flexibility is one of the foundations of The A Game course. The curriculum can be used anywhere from eight hours to eight days to eight weeks. There is ample material to fill a semester course, but in situations where instructors are pressed for time, an effective course can be taught in as few as eight 1-hour sessions, or two 4-hour sessions.
